Femoral Fracture due to Falls in an Elderly with Chronic Diseases
Cho Choo-Yon

Cho Yong-Jin
Abstract
The population of the elderly people is increasing gradually and their falls has been a significant clinical problem. Fall-induced injuries are easy to cause fractures, long-term pain, functional impairments, disabilities, and eventually lead to the death. They need multi-factorial and single interventions such as muscle strengthening exercises, balance trainings, life style modifications, adjustments of medication regimens (especially psychiatric medication), the use of assist devices (cane, walker and etc.), vitamin D and calcium supplements intake, and vision corrections (for example, the cataract surgery) to correct risk factors and prevent falls. We should assess the elderly people for falls and risk factors once a year and also apply better and more appropriate interventions.
